You’ll be part of a team focused on delivering a new client experience, working across web and mobile technologies to bring product ideas to life. This role blends hands-on engineering with product thinking - contributing to how features are designed, built and evolved over time. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, UX and platform teams, with real ownership of what you deliver.
Key Responsibilities | Ngā Kawenga Mahi
- Software engineering & code quality: Writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code aligned to engineering standards, with a strong focus on quality and reliability.
- Modern front-end development: Building intuitive, high-quality client experiences using React and modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Technical design & collaboration: Contributing to design discussions, code reviews and shaping how solutions are structured and delivered.
- Product development & evolution: Helping design and deliver new functionality, ensuring it integrates effectively with existing platforms and shared services.
- API integration & performance: Working with APIs and distributed systems, balancing usability, performance and scalability.
- Release, support & continuous improvement: Supporting the release process, resolving issues and proactively improving solutions over time.
- Security & sustainability: Embedding secure design principles and considering long-term maintainability in all solutions.
- Cross-team collaboration: Partnering with Product, UX and engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes and contribute to a positive team culture.
We work with a modern, evolving stack including:
- Frontend: React, React Query, Ant Design, React Native
- Testing & tooling: Vite, Vitest, Playwright, Mock Service Worker
- Platform: .NET APIs, ASP.NET identity services
- Cloud & delivery: Microsoft Azure, GitHub Actions (CI/CD)
What you will bring to the role | He aha ka kawea e koe ki te mahi
- Strong software engineering experience - Around 5+ years’ experience, with a solid grounding in front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- React & modern JavaScript expertise - Experience working with React and modern JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
- Product delivery experience - Proven experience building and enhancing functionality within existing platforms or products.
- API & system integration capability - Comfortable working with APIs and distributed systems in real-world environments.
- Quality and delivery focus - Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of code, testing and documentation.
- Clear communication skills - Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to articulate trade-offs and technical decisions.
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset - Comfortable working with evolving product requirements and making sound engineering decisions
And ideally....
- Mobile development exposure - Experience with React Native or mobile app development.
- Full-stack capability - Familiarity with .NET or wider full-stack environments.
- Cloud & DevOps tooling - Experience with Azure, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
- Regulated environment experience - Background working in financial services or other high-trust environments.
