About the opportunity | Mo te whai waahi

We're looking for a hands-on AI Solutions Engineer to help turn validated AI use cases into scalable, production-ready solutions across the FirstCape Group. Working closely with business stakeholders and AI leaders, you'll rapidly prototype new opportunities, then apply strong engineering practices to deploy secure, governed, and repeatable solutions in a regulated financial services environment.

This is a high-autonomy role for someone who enjoys building, solving complex business problems, and taking ownership of delivery from concept through to production and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities | Ngā Kawenga Mahi

  • Design, build, test, and deploy AI-powered solutions that solve real business problems and deliver measurable value.
  • Partner with business teams to identify opportunities, validate use cases, and rapidly develop MVPs that prove value or inform decision-making.
  • Develop production-grade solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform, APIs, and related technologies.
  • Integrate AI solutions with business systems, including CRM platforms, document repositories, and other enterprise applications.
  • Implement governance, security, auditability, and compliance controls to support operation in a regulated environment.
  • Design and maintain multi-step agentic workflows, including human-in-the-loop approval and escalation processes where required.
  • Create reusable components, patterns, and frameworks that accelerate future AI delivery across the organisation.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and continually improve deployed solutions to maximise adoption, performance, and business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with technology, business, and AI teams to prioritise opportunities and contribute to the broader AI capability across the Group.
  • Document solutions, standards, and operating procedures to support scalability, maintainability, and knowledge sharing

Desired Skills and Experience

What you will bring to the role | He aha ka kawea e koe ki te mahi

We require that you have:

  • 3–7 years' software engineering, solutions engineering, or application development experience delivering solutions into production environments.
  • Proven experience building and deploying solutions using Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of systems integration, including REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, event-driven architectures, webhooks, and automation workflows.
  • Experience taking solutions from concept and proof-of-concept through to production deployment, support, and optimisation.
  • Practical experience designing AI-enabled workflows, prompt engineering approaches, and evaluating LLM outputs in a structured manner.
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, version control, documentation, monitoring, and operational support.
  • Knowledge of AI governance, data management, security, audit requirements, and responsible AI principles.
  • Experience working in financial services, professional services, or another regulated environment would be highly regarded.
