As a Senior Analyst, you'll play a key role in delivering the investment research, analysis and portfolio insights that underpin JBWere’s investment advice and model portfolios. Working alongside experienced investment professionals, you'll take ownership of sector research, contribute to portfolio construction and risk management, and help shape investment recommendations for advisers and clients. Based within the Investment Strategy & Research team, you'll combine rigorous analysis with strong communication skills to influence investment outcomes and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Key Responsibilities | Ngā Kawenga Mahi
Conduct fundamental company and sector research to support investment recommendations and the ongoing management of model portfolios.
Take ownership of allocated sector coverage, developing investment views and presenting recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Partner with senior investment professionals on portfolio construction, asset allocation and risk management analysis.
Develop and maintain company valuation models, including discounted cash flow and other analytical frameworks.
Produce investment commentary, thought leadership content and research publications for advisers and clients.
Prepare materials for Investment Committees, including performance attribution analysis and governance reporting.
Present investment ideas, market insights and research findings at adviser forums and other internal meetings.
Engage with company management teams, fund managers, research providers and industry participants to support investment decision-making.
Support adviser and client investment enquiries with timely, high-quality analysis and insights.
Contribute to the enhancement of investment processes, governance frameworks and research capabilities, including the adoption of new technologies and analytical tools.
Desired Skills and Experience

We require that you have:
Proven experience in investment research, equities analysis - preferably NZ/AU focussed, portfolio management or a comparable investment-focused role, ideally with 5+ years' experience.
Strong understanding of financial markets, company valuation, equity research methodologies and portfolio construction principles.
Demonstrated ability to develop investment recommendations supported by robust fundamental analysis.
Exceptional analytical capability, attention to detail and proficiency in financial modelling and complex Excel analysis.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain investment concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related discipline. CFA qualification or progress towards CFA highly regarded.
Ability to build effective relationships across advisers, clients, investment professionals and external industry contacts.
Self-motivated, proactive and collaborative, with a passion for investment markets and delivering high-quality outcomes.
