About the opportunity | Mo te whai waahi

We are currently seeking an Operations Analyst to provide middle office support to the Harbour team on a range of operational functions spanning the equity, fixed interest, global, multi-asset accounts and client reporting divisions. This is an operations role with a significant reporting, reconciliation, and accuracy focus but with room to develop and learn from all members of the Harbour team. 

Position Responsibilities | Ngā Kawenga Mahi

•    Perform daily reconciliations between holdings on Bloomberg AIM and data from our outsourced custody and investment accounting provider.
•    Run daily compliance reports and provide assistance to code investment mandates within the Bloomberg AIM system.
•    Work closely with portfolio managers on flow of trades and transactions
•    Provide company-wide performance reports including daily performance reports.
•    Assist in reporting to clients and regulators.
•    Assist in preparing management information for Harbour Board reports.
•    Assist with the set-up of new Multi Asset Clients, Individually Managed Accounts, Fund mandates, new brokers/counterparties.
•    Maintain operational excellence, by ensuring errors and breaches are kept to a minimum and clean annual audit reports are produced.
•    Manage expectations of key stakeholders and complete ad hoc tasks as directed by the Operations Manager and/or Chief Operating Officer.

Attributes and Skills:

•    Well-developed business and technical acumen.
•    A desire to work with numbers but relate to people in the market place will be important. 
•    Highly-developed problem solving/decision making capability. 
•    Results oriented.
•    Ability to work as part of a team, but still maintain self-motivation and drive.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•    An ability to develop positive and constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
•    Strong awareness of risk, quality assurance and accuracy, disciplined and skilled in self-checking and peer review for high risk activities.
•    Strong intuitive skills. Must be able to see through the numbers.
•    Excellent proof reading and checking skills. An eye for the detail.
•    Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially in excel.

Knowledge and Experience:

•    A strong understanding of the NZ managed funds industry, including unit trust products and investment securities.
•    Strong financial literacy, preferably including Maths, Accounting and Economics to Tertiary level. 
•    Knowledge of Funds Management middle and back-office functions would be preferable.
•    Knowledge of Bloomberg would be helpful, but not essential.
