About the opportunity | Mo te whai waahi
Work alongside the Director of Strategy to provide strategic and analytical analysis and thought leadership on proposed strategic initiatives, business reviews and M&A opportunities across the FirstCape Group. An exciting opportunity for someone with between 2-4 years of professional experience to work in a leading wealth and asset management firm in New Zealand, backed by National Australia Bank, Pacific Equity Partners and Jarden Group Limited.
Key Responsibilities | Ngā Kawenga Mahi
- Working on projects with both Director of Strategy and the FirstCape Leadership Team
- Providing strategic and analytical analysis and thought leadership on strategic initiatives, business reviews and M&A opportunities withing the FirstCape Group
- Working on assessing and creating strategic partnerships
- Group M&A and Disposal projects and analysis
- Assisting in the ongoing review and analysis of the market and competitor analysis
- Wider business planning and assisting the review and evaluation of both Group and business unit operations - i.e. business unit "deep dives" and organisation operational reviews
- Assisting in challenging the operations (cost and revenue) models within the business

We require that you have:
- Strategic and forward-thinking approach
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Results driven with the ability to self-manage
- Excellent relationship building skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels
- High integrity and experience working on confidential/sensitive matters
- Strong attention to details and ability to organise and manage multiple work assignments, with frequent priority changes
- Proved analytical and quantitative skills (strong financial modelling skills preferred)
- In-depth and up to date knowledge of the New Zealand and Australian Financial markets
Previous Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Finance major preferred), or equivalent education, training and work-related experience
- Experience in investment banking, corporate finance, corporate law or business background
