The Philanthropic Services team is a market-leading capability providing tailored, strategic advice to 'for-purpose' clients - comprising operating charities, philanthropic funders, tangata whenua, government institutions and other for-purpose organisations and whanau / families. Its purpose is to inspire, educate and support clients and collaborators in delivering lasting, positive change. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropic Services, the Manager role is to extend JBWere's capability in philanthropic impact services by establishing, managing and delivering services to for-purpose clients, supporting the ongoing development of the Philanthropic Services strategy. The role involves managing key programmes, courses, research initiatives, and designing events, as well as coordinating day-to-day operations, client deliverables, and strategic projects.
The Manager will support the creation of thought leadership, proposals and whitepapers, and oversee our content strategies across media platforms to engage our target audiences. The role also contributes to strategic advice, client engagements, and business development efforts, helping grow our for-purpose client base in Aotearoa New Zealand. Close collaboration with the JBWere Australia Philanthropic Services team is required to ensure alignment through our shared heritage and strategic partnership.
These services are provided exclusively to JBWere clients in conjunction with our wealth management services. This combined service of philanthropic impact advice and tailored ethical investment management services is what sets us apart in the market.

Business management
Work with Head of Philanthropic Services to execute the Philanthropic Service strategy and marketing plan, including management of key programmes, courses, research projects, and events.
Support the Head and Senior Manager to foster high performance and professional development through advising on philanthropy and ethical / impact investing opportunities amongst JBWere Wealth Advisers.
Oversee the administration, scheduling, and operational logistics of the team, manage project budgets, maintain the annual calendar.
Monitor prospects and system for advisers to follow up on leads.
Collaborate with the JBWere Australia Philanthropic Services team to optimise programmes and trans-Tasman opportunities.
Working closely with Head of Brand and Events, assist in the preparation and delivery of exclusive leadership events.
Support document writing of collateral, proposals and whitepapers.
Manage system to track KPIs and report on programme effectiveness.
Represent the team in executing content strategies across various media, including LinkedIn.
For-purpose advisory & consulting
Support Senior Manager and Head to provide tailored strategic advice to client.
Lead a portfolio of core client consultations, leveraging team and external speakers, support ad hoc engagements, oversee data collection, and analysis, and present results.
Provide governance advice to clients, supported by team.
Business development
Engage with stakeholders to enhance programme offerings. Assist to develop partnerships to extend programme reach.
Support networks to increase profile and positioning of the brand.
Work with advisers to identify and engage prospects
Represent and promote services at events.
Thought leadership and research
Assist in the preparation of thought leadership materials and reviewing externally commissioned material.
Contribute to the development of a shared knowledge base.
Project manage sector-wide research projects and other strategic investments.
Leverage resources to provide data-led insights.
Support the management of knowledge partners.
Desired Skills and Experience
What you will bring to the role | He aha ka kawea e koe ki te mahi
We require that you have:
Programme Management: Proven experience in programme management. Are detail-oriented and organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, in an environment that requires flexibility and a willingness to do what is required.
Relationship Building: Proven track record in developing genuine relationships through trust and confidence. Known in the for-purpose sector with existing networks. Comfortable interacting with senior managers, trustees, and high-level executives. Strong understanding of internal and external audiences. Excellent communication skills.
Behavioral: Have a genuine passion for, and comprehensive knowledge of, the for-purpose sector.
Philanthropy knowledge: Expertise in thematic areas like for-purpose strategy, governance, grant-making, and impact assessment. Fluency with private non-operating foundations.
Tikanga Māori: Has an appreciation of Tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori.
Qualifications: Preferably tertiary qualification in a business discipline like commerce, law or finance.
Experience: Preferred, minimum ten years of experience in for-purpose field, approaches, or subject matter relevant to the Philanthropic Services context and mission
