About the opportunity | Mo te whai waahi

A unique opportunity to join FirstCape's Finance team to support the Finance Manager FP&A to produce and automate financial accounting, planning and reporting. This includes statutory reporting, forecast /budget models and management reporting using Solver (Business analytics tool) and automation features within the ERP (Dynamics365). Working closely with the finance team, the role will also support the Senior Financial Accountant during year end statutory reporting cycle.

Key Responsibilities | Ngā Kawenga Mahi

  • Support preparation of FirstCape Group financial statements and subsidiaries regulated by the NZX and FMA.
  • Support the automation of Group and subsidiary financial statements by building financial statement hierarchy and reports in Solver tool.
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager to build and maintain forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning models in Solver, including scenario and sensitivity analysis as well as producing all monthly business reporting, including cost centre, T&E and headcount reporting. 
  • Partnering with the Finance Manager – FP&A to develop and maintain brand-specific monthly management reporting, including KPIs, trend analysis, and performance dashboards. 
  • Assist with finance system enhancements, upgrades and testing (UAT) for D365 and related reporting tools.
  • Support FP&A manager in administration and improvements of ERP system (Dynamics365).
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested by CFO and business leaders.
  • Assist with process improvements to Month end close and group consolidation and elimination.
  • Support data quality, reconciliation, and control checks across financial systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare regulatory returns such as Capital Adequacy reporting and NTA reporting for NZX and FMA.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you will bring to the role | He aha ka kawea e koe ki te mahi

  • Experience in preparation of financial statements, including consolidation accounting and cashflows.
  • Experience of budgeting/rolling forecast and financial modeling.
  • Advanced Excel (essential): Power Query, Power Pivot, complex formulas, (XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF, INDEX/MATCH), financial model structuring.
  • Experience in Dynamics 365, PowerBI, Solver, SQL preferred but not essential.
  • Qualified CA (or equivalent), preferably with 1-2 years post qualified commercial experience but not essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform and prioritize tasks according to role
  • Self-driven & results oriented individual
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Consistently proactive in approach to identifying and reacting to issues when they arise
